Community Engagement

Rooted in Southern New England. Built on Service. Powered by People.

At Wade’s Dairy, being a trusted foodservice partner means more than just making deliveries. It means showing up for the communities we serve — schools, neighborhoods, nonprofits, and the people behind every plate.

Since 1893, our family has believed that doing good is part of doing business. Today, that commitment continues through hands-on giving, employee volunteerism, and programs that celebrate the food heroes in our region.

Lunch Lady Legends: Honoring School Foodservice Staff

Wade’s proudly supplies milk and food products to hundreds of schools throughout Connecticut and New York. But more importantly, we support the incredible people behind the cafeteria lines — the ones who feed our children every day with care and heart.

Each year, our Lunch Lady Legends Recipe Contest invites school kitchen staff to submit creative, delicious recipes using Wade’s products. We celebrate the winners with prizes, social media features, and recognition across the region.

Feeding Our Neighbors

As a regional food distributor, we believe access to fresh, nutritious food is a right — not a privilege. That’s why we regularly support:

  • Food banks and pantry partners in Bridgeport, New Haven, and beyond
  •  School nutrition programs with seasonal promotions and extra support
  • Local charities providing meals and resources to underserved families

Our employees are encouraged to volunteer and give back — and we reward their service with paid time off and recognition across the team.

Supporting CT’s Local Food Ecosystem

We’re proud to participate in Connecticut’s “30 by 30” regional food sourcing initiative, helping build a stronger, more resilient food system by distributing:

  • Products from New England farms and food hubs
  • Locally baked goods and value-added products
  • Connecticut-made beverages, sauces, and specialty items

By choosing Wade’s, you’re not just supporting your own operation — you’re supporting the entire regional food chain.

How We Build Local Partnerships

We work with schools, independent retailers, chefs, food entrepreneurs, and nonprofits to grow access, share stories, and build visibility for the people feeding our neighborhoods.
